Iconic Hollywood Schoolhouse a Fixture in the Eastside Social Scene

The Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville, Washington is an iconic fixture in the heart of the Sammamish Valley. This landmark building is conveniently located in the center of the Woodinville Wine district. This district is known for its abundance of wine tasting rooms, trendy restaurants, and boutique shopping. The pedestrian-friendly area is easily accessible from any of Seattle’s Eastside neighborhoods.

Originally established in 1912 as a school managed by the former Derby School District, the Hollywood Schoolhouse has a rich and vibrant history. The school building was also used by the Hollywood Hill Community Club for a variety of parties, dances, and other social events. In 1977, the schoolhouse was purchased by Bothell residents James and Rosemary McAuliffe. Until 1989, the building operated as an antique mall. The owners changed direction with the schoolhouse after a fire in 1989. After an extensive renovation, the property opened as a banquet facility serving guests from all over the region. Because of its storied history, the building is an official State Historical Monument.

The building now features over 16,000 square feet of banquet space. Included in this space are two ballrooms that are popular for event rentals. The bottom level of the building houses the quaint Alexandria Nicole Cellars. Throughout all of the renovation, the building has stayed true to its original architecture and styling. The upper-level features a museum that is home to numerous antiques, artifacts, and other collections that demonstrate the history and uniqueness of the schoolhouse and of the area.

The stately Hollywood Schoolhouse is the home to many of the Eastside’s most amazing events. The space is a popular choice for weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, and much more. An onsite chef provides in-house catering, designed to please any personal taste and preference. The availability of a variety of catering rental items makes it easy to plan an event at this venue.

A trip to this charming venue is a must when either living or visiting the Woodinville or Redmond area. Start with a delicious breakfast at the community gathering spot, The Commons. This restaurant is located directly across the street from the Woodinville Hollywood Schoolhouse. You can then begin exploring the schoolhouse and all of the wineries and shops within steps of its grounds. Finish your day with lunch or dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants, such as Heritage, Vivi Pizzeria, Purple Cafe, or Village Wines. All of this fun can be had with the Hollywood Schoolhouse serving as a majestic backdrop.
